Good evening all, My name is Pete Giesbrecht. I was a former Lost Canadian but as of October 17, 2017 my citizenship was restored, and I have been able to resume my life with Lisa and our three children. And for that, I owe everyone who helped Don Chapman and the LC team a huge debt of gratitude. Which brings me to the one and only time I ever met the Ford family. We were in Vancouver for Canada's 150th celebration but our focus was on citizenship. Don had requested that several of us LCs show up to do radio and TV interviews where ever we could. I was invited to dinner on Saturday evening with Don and the Ford family. We met at a resturaunt in downtown Vancouver where we enjoyed an evening of wonderful food and a LOT of laughs. Arch treated me with far more respect than I deserved and offered great advice, business and personal, throughout the evening. The greatest piece of advice he gave me that night was "look under every stone." And, although I didn't quite understand at first, he explained himself well. Since then, I have written and reviewed many business contracts and I'm very careful to look at each job from every angle I can. Look under every stone. From my observation that evening, I saw Arch as a very tough man who didn't fool around when there was business to take care of. But I experienced his generosity, I saw his love for Brenda and their children through the stories they shared growing up and we all enjoyed his great sense of humour. As I recall, I was not the only one with a sore stomach. Don explained the significance Arch had on the Lost Canadians, and I have come to understand that it is much through the generosity of Arch and his family, that some of these citizenship bills have made it through parliament. A huge thank you to the Ford family for giving of your time and resources. As for Arch, I thank you for your friendship and advice. May you rest in peace, you'll never be forgotten. To Brenda and your children, may you find peace with time. Christ be with you.
